Die Mittel zur Transformation geben wir her. Sie bezieht die Subvention ihres Mannes weiter. 600 fl p[e]r Monat für die Herstellungs kosten. Bis Ende d[iese]s J[ahre]s muss sich das Blatt,

I have carried through two matters.

 

1. The liquidation of the Newlinski affair. In the interest of the widow I am transforming the Correspondance de l’Est into a French-language daily. Bresse, who introduced himself to me as a Zionist quite some time ago. If the paper turns out well, the widow will be provided for. The funds for the change-over will be contributed by us. הוצאתי לפועל שתי קומבינציות.

1. חיסול [פרשת] נֶוולינסקי. למען האישה אני הופך את Correspondance de l’Est ליומון בצרפתית. למנהל יתמנה קוֹזמיאן, וכך, סבורני, אצרף אותו לענייננו. המוציא־והמביא שלו יהיה אחד מורה לצרפתית, מֶסיֶה בֶּרֶס, שהזדהה פעם לפנַי כציוני. אם יעלה העיתון יפה, פרנסתה של האישה מובטחת. את האמצעים לַשינוי נספק אנחנו. היא תמשיך לקבל את התמיכה של בעלה. 600 גוּלדֶן לחודש יוקצו להוצאות ההפקה. לקראת סוף השנה הזאת יצטרך העיתון, שהכתרתי אותו בשם Petit Journal de Vienne, להתקיים בכוחות עצמו.
