Zahl weiss man nicht einmal. Von Zeit zu Zeit plündern die Bauern. Dabei geht es den Juden auch im Erwerb schlecht. Drei Percent sind Handwerker, die Anderen Alle Händler, und die Gebildeten fast durch= gehends Aerzte. Die Kaufleute leiden unter schlechten Geschäften. Alte Häuser fallen um. Concursliste von ihnen voll. Dazu kommt, dass man ihre Concurse für betrügerische hält — in allen Fällen! — und die Ruinirten einsperrt. Wenn sie heraus= kommen, sind die Gebrochenen Bettler. Es wandern auch Viele aus, nach Argentinien! etc. Sie kommen aber oft wieder zurück. (Parbleu! sie haben dort noch nicht meine Heimat.)
