und persönliche Intervention des Kaisers bei den Parteien.   1  October [1899] Heute war Josef Lichtneckert, der „wiedergekommene Jesus Christus“ bei mir, ein Wahnsinniger von reinstem Wasser. Um ihn loszuwerden, liess ich ihn herein, sprach freundlich mit ihm, erklärte ihm, ich könne ihm die verlangten 5 oder 2000 fl nicht geben — er möge sich an die Bibelgesellschaft wenden. Diese Anregung nahm er dankbar auf. Ob ich ihn damit los bin, ist freilich noch fraglich.   5  October [1899] Heute traf ich zufällig den Irrenarzt Dr. Kornfeld“ in der Druckerei der Welt. Ich erzählte ihm vom „wiedergekommenen Jesus Christus“. Er sagte mir, dass das ein gefährlicher Irrsinniger sein dürfte u. nahm

Today Josef Lichtneckert, the “returned Jesus Christ,״ called on me—a lunatic of the purest water. To get rid of him, I let him come in, made friendly conversation with him, and explained to him that I could not give him the 5000 or 2000 guilders he was asking for; why didn’t he apply to the Bible Society. This suggestion he received gratefully. Whether I have got rid of him this way is still doubtful, to be sure.

Today I happened to run into Dr. Kornfeld, the psychiatrist, in the print-shop of the Welt. I told him about the “returned Jesus Christ.” He told me that this was probably a dangerous lunatic and took it upon himself to call on him and, if necessary, to notify the police.

היום היה אצלי יוֹזֶף ליכטנֶקֶרט, "ישו־המשיח שהתגלה מחדש", מטורף אמִתי. כדי להיפטר ממנו נתתי לו להיכנס, שוחחתי אתו באורח ידידותי, הסברתי לו שלא אוכל לתת לו את חמשת אלפים הגוּלדֶן או אלפיים הגוּלדֶן שהוא מבקש, וטוב שיפנה אל "חברת כתבי הקודש". הוא קיבל בתודה את העצה הזאת. אם באמת התפטרתי ממנו, זה עוד נתון בספק.

 

 

 


 5 באוקטובר [1899]

היום פגשתי במקרה את הפסיכיאטר הד״ר קוֹרנפֶלד בבית הדפוס של Die Welt. סיפרתי לו על "ישו־המשיח שנתגלה מחדש". הוא אמר לי שהוא עלול להיות משוגע מסוכן והתחייב לבקר אצלו, ואם יהיה צורך ימסור עליו הודעה למשטרה. יש משום נטילת אחריות אם אין עושים זאת. עלולה לנחות עליו השראה לרצוח מישהו.
