Chronicle, Dr. Hirsch den Secretär von Chowe we Zion u. den Maler Solomon hinbestellt. Die Herren warteten schon, als ich kam. Die Besprechung artete in theologi= sirende Discussion aus. Asher Meyer fragte: „What is your relation to the Bible?“ Ich sagte: „Ich bin Freidenker und unser Princip wird sein, dass Jeder nach seiner Façon selig wird.“ Hirsch fragte, ob ich die Fahne von Chowe we Zion annehme. Ich antwortete mit meiner national socialen Fahne: weisses Feld, sieben Sterne. Die Zionsfahne kann denen die es wollen als Tempelfahne dienen. Schliesslich gelang mir’s nicht, die geplante Centralstelle zu schaffen. Singer möchte wol mitthun, aber der unduldsame Asher Meyer sagte: „Sie dürfen nicht.“

The conference degenerated into a theologizing discussion.

 

Asher Myers asked:  “What is your relation to the Bible?”

 

I said: “I am a freethinker, and our principle will be: Let everyone seek salvation in his own way.”

 

Hirsch asked whether I accepted the flag of the Hovevei Zion.

 

I countered with my national-social flag: white field, seven stars. The Zion flag can serve those who want it as a Temple banner.

 

In the end I did not succeed in creating the Center I had had in mind. Singer would like to participate, but the intolerant Asher Myers told him: “You can’t do that.”
