Sonntag bei Bacher oder bei mir eine Versammlung namhafter Juden stattfinde. Ich würde einen Vortrag halten (meine Rede an die Rothschilds unter Aus= merzung der Rothschilds aus dem Text), darauf hätten die Versammelten mir ihre Connexionen in Paris, London, Berlin zur Verfügung zu stellen. Dort werde ich dann die „société d’études“, die nicht einen Centime Kapital braucht, gründen, (xx) resp[ektive] mir die (xx) Gründung werde zusichern lassen, welche der Publication meiner Broschüre sofort zu folgen hat. Benedikt sagte flau, er wisse hier keine geeigneten Persönlichkeiten in der haute-banque. Er wolle mich aber nach Berlin an den (pathetisch) „Geheimen Commerzienrath Goldberger!“ empfehlen. Ich antwortete: „Diesen Goldberger kenne ich seit acht Jahren. Dazu brauche ich Ihre Empfehlung nicht.“ Er „empfahl“ mir weiters Moriz Leinkauf.

 I would give a speech (my Address to the Rothschilds with the elimination of the Rothschilds from the text), whereupon those assembled would have to place at my disposal their connections in Paris, London, and Berlin. In those places, I shall then found the “société d’études ” which does not require one centime as capital, or, rather, get assurances of its founding which must follow immediately upon the publication of my pamphlet.

 

Benedikt said halfheartedly that he did not know any suitable persons among the big bankers here. But he said he would give me a recommendation to (with pathos) “Privy Councillor of Commerce Goldberger,” in Berlin.

 

I replied: “I have known this Goldberger for eight years, so I don’t need your recommendation.”

 

Then he recommended Moritz Leinkauf to me.

אני אַרצֶה שם (נאומי אל הרוטשילדים בהשמטת הרוטשילדים מן הטקסט), ובעקבות זה יעמידו הנאספים לרשותי את קשריהם בפאריס, לונדון וברלין. שם אייסד אחר־כך את ה־société d’études, שבעבודה אין צורך בשום הון, או, לחילופין, אבקש להבטיח את ייסודה מיד אחרי פִרסומה של החוברת שלי.

בֶּנֶדיקט אמר בנעימה מתחמקת שהוא אינו מכיר כאן אישים מתאימים בקרב הבנקאים הגדולים. ואולם הוא רוצה להמליץ עלי לפני (בקול מודגש) ה־״Geheimen Commerzienrat גוֹלדבֶּרגֶר בברלין". 

עניתי: "את גוֹלדבֶּרגֶר זה אני מכיר זה שמונה שנים. לשם כך אינני זקוק להמלצתך".

בעקבות זה "המליץ" על מוֹריץ ליינקאוּף.
