3 Juli [1896] Im Coupé unterwegs nach Brüssel. Hechler erwartete mich gestern Abends auf dem Perron in Karlsruhe. Der Gross= herzog sei nach Freiburg gefahren u. lasse mich bitten ihm dahin, resp[ektive] nach St. Blasien nachzufahren. Da ich den Grossherzog momentan nicht brauche, liess ich ihm durch Hechler telegraphiren ich sei pressirt, man erwarte mich in London u. ich bäte um die Erlaubniss, ihm auf meiner

On the train, bound for Brussels.

 

Yesterday Hechler met me at the station in Karlsruhe. The Grand Duke had gone to Freiburg and requested me to join him there, that is, at St. Blasien.

 

Since I don’t need the Grand Duke at the moment, I had Hechler wire him that I was pressed for time, being expected in London, and could I have permission to report to him on my way back.

הֶכלֶר המתין לי אמש על הרציף בתחנת הרכבת בקארלסרוּהֶה. הגרוֹסהֶרצוֹג נסע לפרייבּוּרג והוא מבקש שאבוא לשם או לסנט בלאזיאֶן.

היות שאינני זקוק ברגע זה לגרוֹסהֶרצוֹג, ביקשתי מהֶכלֶר שיטלגרף לו שזמני דחוק, מצפים לי בלונדון, ואני מבקש רשות לדווח לו בדרכי חזרה;
