Altaussee 12. Sept[em]b[e]r [1903] Lieber Lord Rothschild (xx) erst heute komme ich dazu, Ihnen für Ihre Glückwunschdepesche zu danken, die Sie mir nach Basel schickten. Ich freute mich über diesen Glückwunsch umsomehr, als Ihre erste Depesche einen Zweifel an der Möglichkeit enthielt, dass wir wirklich so viel von der englischen Regierung erreicht hätten. Diese grosse Thatsache wird allerdings nicht von allen Juden in England so richtig verstanden, wie von Ihnen, Mylord. Ich will Es ist eine grosse Thatsache, deren volle Wirkung sich erst in der Discussion über den Bericht der Alien Immigration Commission zeigen wird. Leider wird durch das  unverständige kurzsichtige (xx) und arrogante Geschreibsel von ein paar unbedeutenden

Dear Lord Rothschild:

 

This is the first day I have had a chance to thank you for your congratulatory telegram which you sent me at Basel. I was all the more pleased by these words of congratulation since your first wire had contained a doubt of the possibility that we had really gained so much from the English government.

 

It is a great actuality whose full effect will only become apparent in the discussion about the report of the Alien Immigration Commission. Unfortunately, an attempt is being made through the short-sighted and arrogant scribbling of a few insignificant
