Oertliche Schwierigkeiten scheinen

mir also nicht vorzuliegen. Die

Frage ist nur, ob nicht eine per=

sönliche Behinderung bei Ihnen

vorhanden ist. Darüber, mein

theurer Freund, müssen wir uns

als Männer und Bnei Zion, die

einander glaube ich so nahe

stehen als es nur möglich ist, offen

aussprechen. Haben Sie vielleicht

Bedenken, dass Sie solche

Opfer an Zeit wie ich sie nun

schon seit 2 ½ Jahren Tag um

Tag bringe, nicht bringen könnten?

To be sure, I well understand that you have them, for it is a hard and serious task, and after all, we have the affairs of a tremendous distress to conduct, one which can, and undoubtedly will, demand an accounting of us at the Congress each year.

So I cannot see that there are any local difficulties. The only question is whether there is not some personal obstacle in your case. About this, my dear friend, we must have a heart-to-heart talk as men and B’nai Zion [Sons of Zion] who, I believe, are as close to each other as can be. Do you perhaps doubt that you could make such sacrifices of time as I have been making every day for the past two years and a half?

אמנם אני מבין שחששות אלה התעוררו אצלך, כי המשימה קשה ורצינית, אבל עלינו לנהל את העניינים של מצב מצוקה איום ונורא, שמשום הנהגתנו אנו אחראים לה, והקונגרס יוכל לדרוש מאתנו שנמסור לו על כך דין־וחשבון מדי שנה בשנה ומן הסתם אכן ידרוש זאת.

לא נראה לי אפוא שקיימים קשיים באשר למקום. השאלה היא רק אם אין כאן עכבה אישית אצלך. על כך, ידידי היקר, עלינו לדבר בגלוי כיאה לגברים ולבני־ציון [במקור: Bnei Zion] הקרובים זה לזה, דומני, במידה שאין למעלה ממנה. האם אתה חושש שלא תוכל להקריב אותה מידה של זמן שאני מקריב יום־יום זה שנתיים וחצי?
