Newlinski hat, wenn er diese

Dinge erzählt, einen eigenthümlich

grossen Ton. Er ist kein gewöhnlicher

Mensch.

Die türkische Anleihe wird von

einigen Blättern dementirt. In der

N[euen] Fr[eien] Pr[esse] hält man die Nachricht, die

übrigens nicht von Paris sondern

aus dem hiesigen auswärtigen Amt

kommt aufrecht. Es verhält sich so,

dass die Botschafter in Konstantinopel

sich über die Anleihe geeinigt haben.

Von da bis zur Perfectionirung

ist noch ein weiter Weg.

The Turkish loan is being denied by some papers. The N. Fr. Pr. is upholding the news, which incidentally, did not come from Paris, but the local Foreign Office. The fact of the matter is that the ambassadors at Constantinople have agreed on the loan. From that to the completion of the agreement is still a big step.

ההכנסות של חצר הסולטאן מבוססות על ההכנסות ממכסים, ואילו אלו הצטמקו בעשרים השנים האחרונות משלושה מיליון לירות למיליון אחד.

כאשר נֶוולינסקי מספר את העניינים הללו, נעימת קולו עוטה חגיגיות משונה. אין הוא אדם רגיל.

בעיתונים אחדים יש הכחשות על דבר המִלווה לטורקיה. ב־.N.Fr.Pr הידיעה בעינה, ודרך אגב, לא מפאריס היא באה, כי אם ממיניסטריון־החוץ כאן. מתברר שהשגרירים בקושטא באו לידי הסכמה על המִלווה. מכאן ועד הביצוע, הדרך עוד רחוקה.
