2000 Shares verkaufen. Dann ist es docu=

mentirt, dass ich (xx) nicht in meinem Interesse

diese Zuwendung von Alex an die Bank

fordere. Denn ich gebe meine Shares so

her, wie ich sie gekauft habe, minus Zinsen=

verlust. Es ist zwar eine Uebertriebenheit

von mir, aber nothwendig, weil ich nur

dadurch die Autorität erhalte — sowol Alex

wie den Aussenstehenden gegenüber — um für

diese Abmachung wirksam einzutreten.

Was Alex bei Reitlinger nicht machen

dürfte: er kann ein Jahr Monopol auf das

Mittel für das jüdische Volk statuiren.

Nach einem Jahr gibt er das Mittel allge=

mein bekannt. Die Aussicht dieses einen

Jahres aber macht uns die Bank flott,

weil man die Shares sämmtlich zeichnen

wird, wenn die J[ewish] C[olonial] T[rust] ein solches Geschäft

in Händen hat.

Vorfrage natürlich: ob das Mittel gut ist.

The shares will at once rise greatly in value, and because I am firmly convinced of it and must accordingly persuade Alex to leave the matter to us, I shall sell my 2000 shares. Then it will be documented that I am not asking Alex for this donation to the Bank in my interest. For I am letting my shares go the way I bought them, minus loss of interest. It is, of course, something exaggerated on my part, but it is necessary, because only this will give me the authority—in Alex' eyes as well as those of outsiders—to support this arrangement effectively.

Something that Alex will probably not do at Reitlinger’s: He could stipulate a year’s monopoly on his remedy for the benefit of the Jewish people. After one year he can announce the remedy to the public. However, the prospect of this one year will put the Bank on its feet, because all the shares will be subscribed if the J.C.T. has such a business in its hands.

Preliminary question, of course: is the remedy any good?

מחיר המניות ירקיע מיד שחקים, ומכיוון שאני משוכנע בכך לחלוטין ולפיכך עלי לשדל את אלכס להשאיר לנו את העניין, אמכור את אלפיים המניות שלי. ואז יהיה מתועד שלא לטובתי שלי אני דורש מאלכס לוותר למען הבנק. כי אני מוסר את המניות שלי במחיר שקניתי אותן, פחות הפסד הריבית. אמנם זו הגזמה, אבל היא נחוצה, כי כך אני רוכש אוטוריטה – כלפי אלכס וכלפי אנשים מבחוץ כאחד – לפעול ביעילות למען ההסכם הזה.

מה שאלכס מן הסתם לא יעשה עם רייטלינגֶר: הוא יכול לקבוע בחוזה מונופול על התרופה למשך שנה, למען העם היהודי. כעבור שנה יעמיד את התרופה לרשות הכלל. ואילו הצֶפי הוא שהשנה האחת הזאת תשיק לנו את הבנק, כי אם יהיה בידי אוצר התיישבות היהודים נכס עסקי כזה, יחתמו על כל המניות.

ואולם נשאלת כמובן השאלה אם התרופה טובה.
