Ceux qui veulent l’affaiblissement et

la disparition (xx) de l’Empire Ottoman sont

les ennemis plus ou moins déclarés de

notre plan, c’est facile à comprendre.

Those who desire the weakening and the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire are the more or less avowed enemies of our plan; that is easy to understand.

ואולם מאז פורסם הספר, לבשה התנועה היהודית החדשה [במקור: le mouvement néo-juif] אופי שונה והיתה לתנועה מעשית ובת־ביצוע. אנחנו מתמודדים עם הנסיבות, אנחנו רוצים לנקוט מדיניות טובה, כנה ונמרצת.

זה העניין בכמה מלים:

אם יעניק לנו הוד רוממותו הסולטאן את התנאים ההכרחיים בשביל התיישבותם של אנשינו בארץ־ישראל, אנו נקבל עלינו לפי הצורך להרים את תרומתנו להסדרם ולרווחתם של הפיננסים של האימפריה.

והיה אם יתקבל העיקרון הזה, יאזינו שני הצדדים ברצון זה לזה בדבר הפרטים.
