Begleitbrief an Ibrahim

Chère Excellence, j’ai eu la grande

Surely the matter of the consolidation ought to be kept separate from the projects. There remains only the exploitation of the mines and the creation of a new bank for the Ottoman countries. But I do not know if Y.I.M. still wishes my friends to attend to this.

Therefore I humbly request Y.I.M. to let me know your exalted decision. On the 30th of June I leave here for London where I hope to stay for about two weeks. Having already prepared the ground, it will be easy for me to accomplish something in a short time if I have something tangible in my hands.

I have the honor, Sire, to remain

Covering letter to Ibrahim.

Your Excellency:

יש להוציא אפוא את פרשת איחוד החוב מן התוכנית הכוללת. לא נותרו אלא ניצול המִכרות והקמתו של בנק חדש בשביל הארצות העות׳מאניות. אבל אינני יודע אם הוד רוממותו הקיסרית עדיין רוצה שידידַי יטפלו בכך.

אני מבקש אפוא בענווה מהוד רוממותו הקיסרית להודיעני מה החלטתו הנעלה. אני יוצא מכאן ללונדון ב־30 ביוני ובדעתי להישאר שם כשבועיים. אחרי שהכשרתי את השטח, יקל לי להגיע אל המטרה בתוך זמן קצר, אם יהיה בידי דבר של ממש.

יש לי הכבוד, Sire, להישאר משרתו הכנוע מאוד והצייתן מאוד של הוד רוממותו הקיסרית.
