Greenberg, zu Cromer schicken u. zw. at once. Er gab zu bedenken, dass Cromer vielleicht nach dem Süden abgegangen sein werde, war aber bereit, Greenberg eine Einführung zu Lord Cromer zu geben. Und liebenswürdig war auch der Abschied von Lord Lansdowne. Ich glaube, das war ein erfolgreicher Tag.   27 October [1902] im Orient Express hinter Geislingen Eins vergass ich im Lansdowne Interview. Ich sagte ihm zum Schluss: „Il y a encore un point. J’ai une bonne situation per= sonnelle auprès du Sultan. Je serai heureux de pouvoir vous être utile à mon tour. Je crois que l’influence

He reminded me that Cromer might already have left for the South, but said he was willing to give Greenberg an introduction to Lord Cromer.

 

Charming, too, was the way in which Lord Lansdowne bade me good-bye.

 

I think this has been a successful day.

 

October 27, on the Orient Express, beyond Geislingen

 

I forgot one thing about the Lansdowne interview.

 

At the end I said to him: 

 

“There is one other point. I have a good personal relationship with the Sultan. I would be happy to be of service to you, in turn.

דבר אחד שכחתי [לרשום] על הריאיון עם לֶנסדאוּן. אמרתי לו בסיום [בצרפתית]:

"יש עוד נקודה. יש לי מעמד טוב אצל הסולטאן. אהיה מאושר אם אוכל להיות למועיל גם אנוכי.
