Ich telephonirte sogleich mit

den Correspondenten des Daily

Mail u. der Daily News, bat sie

die Gerüchte von mir aus zu

dementiren, so dass dieses Dementi

heute Früh in London erscheint.

An Wellisch depeschirte ich,

er möge Ibrahim sofort sagen, dass

ich schon dementirt habe. Denn

wenn Yildiz Kiosk dementirt, hat es

eine viel ungünstigere Repercussion.

Wir werden sehen, ob sie mich

wieder contrecarriren.

רשמתי אותה, אך משסיימתי נזכרתי שהטלגרמות הללו נשלחות אל טאחסין, שהוא עכשיו נגדי. העדפתי אפוא לא להשאיר שם את הטלגרמה והלכתי לדרכי.

טִלפנתי מיד אל הכתבים של Daily Mail וְ־Daily News וביקשתי שיכחישו בשמי את השמועות כדי שההכחשה הזאת תתפרסם הבוקר בלונדון.

אל וֶליש טִלגרפתי שיאמר מיד לאיבּרָהים שאני כבר הכחשתי. שהרי אם יילדיז־קיוסק הוא המכחיש, יש לכך השלכות גרועות בהרבה. נראה אם יכשילו אותי שוב.

בהיזכרי באיזֶט אני משווה מול עיני את הפרחח הנכלולי המשעשע ביותר שפגשתי מעודי.
