Pelusium (xx) rieth er mir vor= läufig der J[ewish] c[olonization]a[ssociation] nicht mitzutheilen. Ich möchte mit ihm  zwei Dinge ins Klare bringen. I Dass ich auch vom Pariser Hause Rothschild keinen Geldbeitrag für die Sache, sondern nur die moralische Unterstützung wünsche. II Dass ich der J[ewish]c[olonization]a[ssociation] nicht zumuthe, Geld für irgendetwas à fonds perdu herzugeben, sondern nur dass sie an productiven Anlagen einer (xx) grossen jüdischen Colonisation theilnehme, für die ich die

Dear Lord Rothschild:

 

Don’t you think that a meeting with Baron Alphonse would be more important than a conference with the I.C.A. people?

 

I would like to clarify two things:

 

1) That I don’t want a financial contribution to the cause from the Paris House of Rothschild either, but only moral support.

 

2) That I don’t presume upon the I.C.A. to give money for anything à fonds perdu [outright], but only want it to participate in productive investments for a great Jewish colony for which I have created the necessary political basis.

  1. שגם מבית רוטשילד הפאריסאי אינני מבקש השתתפות כספית, אלא רק את תמיכתו המוסרית.

 
2. שאינני מצפה מיק״א שתיתן כסף לדבר כלשהו à fonds perdu [על קרן הצבי, כלומר בתור תרומה], אלא שתיטול חלק בהשקעות פרודוקטיביות של התיישבות יהודית גדולה, שבעבורה יצרתי את הבסיס הפוליטי הנדרש.
