war ein wegwerfendes Dementi,

u. werde das auch in Zukunft

nicht thun.

Indessen hat sich Rom doch

dafür interessirt.

Newlinski hat mir in seiner

Correspondance de l'Est einen

ehrlichen Dienst erwiesen

Rome seems to have calmed down since then. It was a fausse alerte [false alarm]. Perhaps they took the Rothschilds’ word for it that there was “nothing to it.” Sooner or later I shall have to start a campaign against the Rothschilds. Titre tout indiqué [The definitely indicated title]: “The House of Rothschild”— objective presentation of the world menace that this octopus constitutes.

In the Politische Korrespondenz there was a disdainful denial to the effect that the Curia had not made the Zionist Congress the object of diplomatic action, and would not do so in the future either.

However, Rome did get interested in it.

Newlinski performed me an honest service in his Correspondance de l'Est, in the form of two articles, the first of which pacified Rome, the second, Constantinople.

ב־Politische Correspondenz הופיעה הכחשה זלזלנית: הקוּריה [של האפיפיור] לא הפכה את קונגרס הציונים לנושא שיש לנקוט כלפיו צעדים דיפלומטיים, ואף בעתיד תנהג כך.

עם זאת, רומא אכן גילתה עניין.
