une mauvaise affaire. Au bout de quelque (xx)  temps un autre groupe formé par mes amis se présentera pour re= prendre l’affaire. Il serait inutile et  même nuisible de faire savoir au groupe actuel qu’il y a une autre combinaison sous roche parce qu’alors, sachant qu'on aura besoin des titres accumulés entre leurs mains ils ne se rendraient pas. Si S[a] M[ajesté] dit simplement: ou vous me ferez l’unification avec 30 mill[ions] d’obligations (xx)   ou je ne procède pas du tout à une pareille opération — alors ils sont forcés de se rendre. (xx)   Mais si S[a] M[ajesté] leur dit: j’ai une autre combinaison, alors ils attendent pour vendre plus cher leurs titres accumulés. J’espère que S[a] M[ajesté] dans sa haute sagesse entrevoit avec

After a period of time another group formed by my friends will present itself to reopen the matter.

 

It would be of no help and even harmful to let the current group know that there is another plan in the works, because then, knowing there would be a demand for the bonds already in their possession, they would not give up.

 

If H.M. simply says: either you make the consolidation with 30 mill. of debts, or I will not proceed with such an undertaking at all—then they will have to give up.

 

But if H.M. says to them: I have another arrangement, then they will wait to sell their acquired bonds more dearly.

 

I hope H.M. in his lofty wisdom will perceive with what complete disinterest I am serving his interests.

בתוך זמן מה תופיע קבוצה אחרת, המורכבת מידידים שלי, כדי לחדש את הטיפול בעִסקה. לא יועיל כלל, אף יזיק, להודיע לקבוצה העכשווית שאורב לה צירוף אחר, שהרי אז, ביודעה זאת, ביודעה שנחוצות תעודות חוב הצבורות בידיה, היא לא תיכנע.

אך אם יאמר להם הוד רוממותו בפשטות: או שתבצעו בשבילי את איחוד החוב עם 30 מיליון איגרות חוב או שכלל אינני ממשיך במבצע הזה, הם ייאלצו להיכנע.

ואילו אם יאמר להם הוד רוממותו: יש לי צירוף אחר, יחכו כדי למכור במחיר גבוה את תעודות החוב שצברו.

מקווה אני שהוד רוממותו, בתבונתו כי רבה, אכן הבחין כיצד אני משרת את האינטרסים שלו בלי כל אינטרס מצדי.
