Ich hatte auch Goldsmid im Verdachte,

dass er sich mehr als richtig auf

den eigenen Herrn der Concession

hinausspielte. Eine Spur davon fand

ich in seiner Anregung, dass der

Administrator der Colonie (worunter

er offenbar sich selbst verstand)

von der Regierung auch zum Gouverneur

ernannt werden sollte.

Im heute eingetroffenen Bericht

eine andere Spur! wenn er Sir Eldon

Gorst schreibt, er müsse auf dringende

Cabelgramme aus London u[nd] Wien Aus=

kunft geben.

Aus London? Wer hat ihm von dort

cabelgraphirt?

I also suspected Goldsmid of acting, more than was proper, his own boss of the concession. I found a trace of this in his suggestion that the administrator of the colony (by which he evidently meant himself) should also be appointed governor by the government.

In the report that arrived today there is another trace! Namely, his writing to Sir Eldon Gorst that he had to supply information in reply to urgent cablegrams from London and Vienna.

From London? Who sent him a cablegram from there?

חשדתי גם בגוֹלדסמיד, שפעל כמו בעל בית של הזיכיון יותר מכפי שהיה הדבר ראוי. עקבות לכך ראיתי בהצעה שהציע שמנהל המושבה (וברור שהבין שהמנהל יהיה הוא עצמו) ימונה על־ידי הממשלה גם ל־Gouverneur [מושל].

ועוד רמז אחר, בדוח שהגיע היום! כשהוא כותב אל סֶר אֶלדוֹן גוֹרסט שעליו לשלוח תשובות על טלגרמות דחופות מלונדון ומווינה.

מלונדון? מי שלח לו משם טלגרמה?
