several things about the relation between Christianity and Judaism which have since given me food for thought. I did not have my reply quite ready, but I think our thoughts are in agreement.

 

I am absorbed with the misery of my brethren, but not as a chauvinist or narrow-minded fanatic.

 

This is perhaps proved by my plan to extraterritorialize the holy places, to make them res sacrae extra commercium gentium [holy places above the trafficking of the nations].

 

That would be a great symbol; and very old dreams would be realized.

 כמה מלים על הקשרים בין הנצרות ליהדות, ואני הרהרתי בהן מאז. לא היתה בפי תשובה מיידית, אבל אני סבור שמחשבותינו נפגשות.

אני עוסק במצוקה של אחַי, אך לא כשוביניסט או כקנאי נבער. הוכחה לכך היא אולי הרעיון שלי לאֶקסטריטוריאליזציה של המקומות הקדושים, והפיכתם ל־res sacrae extra commercium gentium (מקומות קדושים העומדים מחוץ למשא ומתן בין האומות). זה יהיה סמל גדול, וחלומות עתיקים מאוד יתגשמו.
