Der Congo eigne sich absolut nicht.   23 VII [1903] Altaussee Frau v[on] Korwin hat mir die Audienz bei Plehwe verschafft, „der sich freut eine so interessante Persönlich= keit wie Dr. H[erzl] kennen zu lernen u. eine Emigration ohne Rückkehr de tout son cœur unterstützen will“.   Ich telegraphire an Frau v[on] Korwin Herzlichsten Dank für Ihre und seine grosse Liebenswürdigkeit. … unseren ergebensten Dank weiterzugeben. Ich werde selbstverständlich pünktlich sein. Wann wäre aber … Würde es aber als besondere Gunst ansehen, wenn es (xx) schon ungefähr am zehnten August unserer fünf oder sechs Tage früher sein könnte. Philippson definitely declares that he won’t participate, saying that the Congo is absolutely unsuitable.

Mme. von Korvin has procured an audience for me with Plehwe “who is looking forward to making the acquaintance of so interesting a personality as Dr. H. and will de tout son coeur [heartily] support emigration without the right of re-entry."

 

I am wiring Mme. von Korvin:

 

Heartiest thanks for your and his great kindness. Needless to say, I shall be there on time.

 

But would regard it as a special favor if it could be five or six days sooner.

הגברת פוֹן קוֹרווין השיגה לי את הריאיון אצל פּלֶוֶה, "השמח להכיר אישיות כה מעניינת כמו הד״ר הרצל ורוצה de tout son coeur (מכל הלב) לתמוך בהגירה ללא שיבה".

אני מטלגרף אל הגברת קוֹרווין:

תודה מקרב לב על הרצון הטוב שלך ושלו. אדייק כמובן. ואולם הייתי רואה בכך חסד מיוחד אילו התאפשר להקדים [את הריאיון] בחמישה או בשישה ימים.
